The New York Metro Area Wheel

This wheel shows what's local and in season within about a 150-mile radius of New York City. This foodshed includes all of Long Island, most of New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, and the near parts of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Some of the signature local foods of the area include maple syrup, ramps, fiddlehead ferns, and delicious cured meats. An illustration of a root cellar fills the winter panel of the wheel, picturing potatoes, root vegetables, cabbages, cider, pickles, alliums, and other cold-weather delights.
